The ten ladders
The ladders for each of the ten areas to be reviewed are shown in this section. Some may relate to areas where service users have difficulties, others may not be a problem at all.

Each ladder has ten steps, each with a statement. For each ladder, the key worker will ask which statement describes where the service user is at the time of the review and they will then explore this in detail.

The Outcomes Star's ladders cover the following ten areas:
  1. Motivation and taking responsibility
  2. Self-care and living skills
  3. Managing money and personal administration
  4. Social networks and relationships
  5. Drug and alcohol misuse
  6. Physical health
  7. Emotional and mental health
  8. Meaningful use of time
  9. Managing tenancy and accommodation
  10. Offending
Other variants of the Star, such as the Mental Health Recovery Star*, may cover different areas.
