Homeless Outcomes

This website aims to provide a one-stop resource for homelessness agencies who are interested in taking an outcomes approach to their work.

It includes material to help agencies develop and deepen their understanding of the outcomes approach and provides guidance on choosing an outcomes tool that is right for you.

The site also includes detailed information on the Outcomes Star tool for measuring the outcomes of work with homeless people, which is enhanced by the Outcomes Star System. St Mungo's have shown the breadth of learning and evidence of success that can be gained from compiling Outcomes Star data in their 2008 briefing, First Research Results from the Outcomes Star.

This website is published by Homeless Link as part of its outcomes programme, which began life in 2001 under the leadership of the London Housing Foundation, and we are very grateful to Triangle Consulting for leading on the content and presentation of information within the site.

New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) publishes a new report

A report published by the New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) entitled Everyday Cares compares children’s day centres in Italy and the  UK. The report provides a framework for charities to measure their impact on children’s lives. Although this report was based in schools, many of the findings are relevant to homelessness interventions and have particular relevance to the outcomes approach. More

Is Outcomes Star data meaningful? Contribute to our research!

Homeless Link and the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, are currently undertaking a piece of research to validate the Outcomes Star as a data collection tool. This is to determine:

a) whether the tool is used consistently across different workers, projects and organisations

b) whether progress in ‘soft’ outcomes, as measured by the Star, correlates to the achievement of ‘hard’ outcomes.
